Andor: learn about the origins of the Rebels

Cassian Andor is a hero of the republic that we hardly knew about despite being his presence throughout the saga. However, thanks to this Disney + series that Tony Gilroy created, you’ll have a chance to learn more about him and his significant influence on the establishment of the Rebels.

Andor is the official prequel to Rogue One, occurring about five years before the film’s events. The Mexican actor, Diego Luna, portrays the hero Andor, the rogue spy who played a pivotal role when stealing the Death Star blueprints. We return to a world without Jedis where the episodes investigate the birth of the Rebellion’s fight against the Empire. It also presents the activities and objectives of the protagonist during that time.

Without spoiling the storyline of Andor for you, you’ll discover more about the other vital characters from the plot. For instance, you’ll meet Mon Mothma (played by Genevieve O’Reilly), who is an old acquaintance you may recognize from the Star Wars movies. Also, Forest Whitaker returns as Saw Gerrera.

November will showcase the final three episodes (with Benjamin Caron as director). Here are the expected Disney+ release dates:

  • Episode 10: November 9
  • Episode 11: November 16
  • Final episode 12: November 23

Disney+ has confirmed that Andor has been renewed for a second season with another twelve exciting episodes. We’re nearing the end of season 1 with only a few days left, which has already pleasantly surprised both critics and fans.

Andor received high praise from critics

Andor has positioned itself as a completely different show from what we’ve seen thus far in the Star Wars saga. The universe that George Lucas created has ventured onto a new course we initially saw with the premiere of The Mandalorian. Critics were pleasantly surprised.

The series has already been classified by many as a galactic thriller while some dare to state that Andor presents the best Star Wars story so far. It’s a tale full of nuances and deep characters where massive doses of action aren’t required for an exciting plot.

With Andor, there’s a more serious and mature approach without needing to resort to huge battles and expensive effects. It’s a story concentrating on invisible, ordinary people quite different from the famous heroes and villains, focusing with detailed attention on the neutral spaces where the main characters’ lives are forged by daily, small skirmishes.

In summary, it’s a production with incredible quality that you need to see, offering a different perspective of the Star Wars universe. We only have a few weeks to wait to see what surprises the Andor series has in store for us when the final episodes appear.

In the meantime, remember that you can only see the first episodes of Andor on Disney+ if you haven’t watched them yet. If you’re still not subscribed, take advantage of the annual subscription discount, paying for 12 months at the cost of 10. Check out the Disney+ offer!
